Volunteer Hours
The concessions stand is now open from 5:00 to 8:00 or 9:00 depending on practices. Volunteers are needed to work. This is a great opportunity for those who come from a distance. Watch the concessions while your skater is in practice and earn an hour or two of volunteer hours. The sign up schedule is up next to concessions. Remember that a minimum of 25 hours is mandatory, but the more you do to help out, the better we will be at keeping costs down.
Cash Calendars
Turn in calendar stubs Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays through November 27. The drawing will take place November 30th. Volunteers are needed to collect the stubs.
Skates
The opening weeks of open skate have been very popular. So popular that we don't have enough skates to rent. The association is asking for any old skates to be donated to help meet the need at this time. We have actually had to turn kids away because we didn't have skates for them.
Team News
With the coaches' help, I would like to add this to the newsletter during the season. If you coaches out there can get me highlights from the past month, I'll include it in the newsletter to let the whole organization know how the teams are doing. At this point, I'll give what I know. Mini-mites and Mites have started practicing. Fewer and fewer cages are seen every week. Neither mites nor mini-mites can play any games until after December 1st, but we are working hard at getting ready for the ones we have. Squirts have had two wins, one against Sioux Center (13-1) and one against Marshall (4-2). Peewees have had a game against Sioux Center but since I am just starting this, no information is available. Bantams have had two games, St. Peter, Sioux Center, and their 3rd game is tonight at 4:30 against Mankato.
All this information is on the web site. The varsity opening home game is December 2 against Waseca for both boys and girls. Let's all be there to support our varsity teams. 1:00 for the girls, 3:00 for the boys. We look forward to a good year of hockey.
Fundraisers
Remember that we have a chance to go see the Stampede this next Saturday, November 18. Cost is $20.00 per person. News is that there hasn't been a lot of interest in this, but remember that a portion of the proceeds goes to our association and it's a lot of fun.
